All students at MCA receive regular instruction in Bible, reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. We seek to use developmentally appropriate practice with all students. This allows us to tailor instruction to each grade and group of students.
We believe that curriculum is much bigger than a book or a worksheet. Curriculum is both the means and the materials that are used to promote learning in the classroom. As such, there will be days that students work and practice from a book. There will also be days when students are using manipulatives, art, projects, and play to learn. In keeping with this hands-on approach, we now have a fully-functional science lab available to our middle and high school students. If you would like to see some of the books we do use, please stop by the office, or you can ask your student’s teacher. In addition to the core content areas, MCA also offers the following Arts classes during the day to all students in PreK3 – 8th grade: Library, Physical Education, and Music. Students in 3rd-8th grades are able to choose between general music and choir or band and orchestra (starting in September). We also integrate Art in the classroom through core content subjects. For our high school students, we offer a block schedule for our core subjects, including Old and New Testament Survey, Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, Social Studies, and Health. We also offer specials including Music, Physical Education, and ACT Prep. We also offer electives that students will be able to choose from beginning September 5. Giving the teachers and students two weeks before choosing electives allows us to gauge student interest and pick electives they want to learn.
