ATHLETICS
Midwestern Christian Academy offers students the opportunity to participate in interscholastic athletics. Offering athletics at MCA fits with our educational philosophy of meeting the needs of the whole person, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. The athletic program at MCA provides students with the ability to learn and grow in all four of these areas.
MCA belongs to a league made up of other private schools of similar size in the city of Chicago. We provide teams for boys and girls volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and in the spring of 2024 will begin offering students the opportunity to participate in organized track and field.
Students in grades 4 through 8 are eligible to participate in athletics at MCA. Tryouts are not required, though students are expected to be committed to participating in practices and games, contributing to a sense of teamwork and community. In order to be eligible, students must be earning passing grades in all subject areas and a good disciplinary record.
Students who desire to participate in athletics at MCA should respond to announcements about practice times and season dates sent to parents via email, or contact the school office.
We had a successful year in athletics for 2022. Below are just a few highlights of what our boys and girls team accomplished.
- 5th & 6th grade Girls Basketball team ended the season with several wins against competitive and much more experienced teams.
- 7th & 8th grade Girls Basketball team finished the season within the top 4 with help from our 5th graders.
- 5th & 6th grade Boys Basketball team fought their way to a championship game and WON 2ND PLACE. Truly an amazing accomplishment considering it was the first time our boys played together in an organized league also finishing the game 1 point short from championship victory.
- 7th & 8th grade Boys Basketball team also finished the season within the top 4 against competitive and much more experienced teams.
Our volleyball team also had a successful season and we are looking to add to the accomplishments this year.
