R. Lee Saunders is the administrator/principal of Midwestern Christian Academy. Though named after his father, Ralph, which explains the initial “R”, he goes by Lee.
Lee has a B.A. in secondary education, with a major in history, and minors in English and Biblical Studies from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and an M.A. in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He has also done additional graduate study in education at the University of Houston, in Houston, Texas.
Lee began teaching in the public school system in Arizona after graduating from college, but in 1983, became a classroom teacher at Broadway Baptist School in Houston, Texas, where he taught social studies, journalism and English. He also taught social studies, Bible and English at Fort Bend Baptist Academy in Sugar Land, Texas, and served as chairman of the Bible department, and as middle school boys basketball coach. He was the middle school principal and athletic director at Clay Road Baptist School in Houston, and for the past eight years, has been head administrator of Portersville Christian School in Portersville, Pennsylvania. He is an ordained minister, and has also served churches as a youth pastor and minister of discipleship.
He has been married to JoAnn for 36 years and they have a 10 year old golden retriever, Gracie.
